Close but not ready for the real world

I really wanted to like this camera. I had high hopes that I could mount it and get it working or just by fiddling with the settings a bit. But that didn't happen. Obviously this camera has not been tested under real conditions. Tip #1: The slightest breeze can blow the mic off (pun intended). Hint #2: Bug activity triggers motion detection even though vehicle and people detection is enabled and motion sensitivity is set to low. This means too many false alerts and inputs. Tip #3: Smart AI isn't that smart; Cars parked at night can set off an alarm (especially if the infrared (IR) lighting is turned off). Tip #4: The Day/Night switch is set to Auto (as recommended) and switches too frequently between IR and color night vision on low sensitivity. . This appears to be caused by flaws in (or out of) the lens and wind (which causes slight fluctuations in lighting conditions (ie light falling through tree branches)). ): Daytime image quality: 5 Daytime motion detection (vehicle and person): 4 External hardware build quality (housing and mount): 5 Microphone sensitivity (no wind noise, no traffic noise): 5 Microphone filtering (hardware and firmware): 1 Field of view: 3 ( 89 degrees) Night vision quality with IR on: 3 (more of a blur than a flood) Color night vision quality: 5 Android app: 3 Camera firmware (AI, sensitivity, etc.): 1 I've tried to troubleshoot the issue with false alarms in of the night by changing the settings, but for example when I turned off the IR to reduce the activity of bugs at night (they are attracted to IR light) the camera gave false alarms with parked cars. I've spent a lot of time (probably too much) messing around with the settings and still haven't gotten satisfactory results. In the end I returned it. Maybe firmware updates will fix these issues, but for now, especially given the Revain's return window, I can't recommend it for outdoor environments, under an eaves, or over a driveway. Note: I called EZVIZ customer service about the false alarms (my biggest problem) and while they are responsive and polite, they couldn't solve the problem (they told me to restart the camera - that didn't help).
