Review on ๐Ÿšด LEZYNE ABS-1 Pro Chuck Bicycle Valve Head: Presta & Schrader Compatible High Performance for Your Bike by Johnathan Rothstein

Wanted to like Lezyne but they suck

I've had a cheap Park Tools pump for 12 years. It was fine for me, but over time the plastic that connects the hose to the body became brittle and failed. Since it was a cheap pump there was no one to fix it and I had to throw it in a landfill. I wanted something good as a replacement, so I splurged at my local bike shop for what was supposed to be the perfect modular shop pump that will last me a lifetime. I had to replace the pump head as soon as I got it. probably a year. The cynic in me says they make parts user-serviceable so they can incite destruction and turn them into a revenue stream. It's all style and no content. If my #2 cartridge breaks, I'll give my pump to a poor guy and buy a better Park Tools pump. The Presta cartridge also has a fatal flaw. It has a really sticky gasket that seals it, and if you're not careful not to over-tighten it on your Presta valve, it will pull the core (along with all your air pressure) out when you unscrew it. And if you don't tighten it, it will leak. This is a really silly technical error and the screw chuck offers no advantage over the "click-to-lock" variant. I've considered switching to a non-threaded pump head, but the reviews are even worse than this one. I wanted to buy the best tool for the job and get the job done instead of doing some bullshit for a while. Unfortunately, this is not the right tool. It's a shame my LBS recommended this to me and I bought it without reading the reviews online. I will search.
