I used these with 18AWG wire and found the holes to small for the wire. I had to use a small drill to enlarge each hole a little before I could insert the wire. Compressing went well, but on some of them the "hinge" area popped out when I squeezed them. The metal protrusions inside fold up, which had to be bent back before they could be joined together. Once closed I found them very easy to open. Simply pressing the wire opens the tab a little no matter how hard I try to pinch it with pliers. I don't see them lasting very long or being super reliable, but they work once plugged in.
