Review on Solsop Crimping Crimper Connectors Stripper by Ronald Howlett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All in one tool that works great

This pack contains multiple items. I will look at them one by one.1. The advantages of pliers are multifunctionality in one tool. First, there are wire cutters that are very sharp and cut CAT5/5e accurately. Wire cutters are not designed to cut thick wire. Next come two wire strippers, one for round wire and one for flat wire. I can't speak to the flat wire stripper because I don't use flat cables, but the round CAT5/5e stripper worked great without hitting any of the internal wires. While I would caution that round cables can become more oval when handled, a simple quick press to reshape the cable before using wire strippers works great. Finally, you have the actual crimping function. I've only used RJ45 8P8C but there are also RJ11 6P and 4P crimps. The RJ45 connector went in easily and hit the stopper without pushing too far. A firm push on the buttons squeezed the connector. The handles are long enough to provide good leverage without having to use two hands to grip. The only downside to crimp terminals is that they don't have a ratchet or end click when the crimping process is complete. But as long as you keep the handles fully closed, the crimp will always be perfect.2. The advantages of the testers are ease of use and versatility in use with RJ45 8P and RJ11 6P connectors. The testers connect together, which is very convenient when testing a short patch cord, and they can be reversed connected so that the test ports are on the same side. I've used them between three floors without having to keep going up and down stairs to check connections. I did not find any disadvantages for the testers.3. Offline Wire Stripper - There aren't many, but they work well. There are different stripping positions for different cable sizes. It's very easy to slide the cable into a smaller position and cut all the internal wires. Also, be careful not to twist the wire stripper around the wire too often as it will dig in and cut through the inner wires. As a bonus, standalone strippers come with a tool to install twisted pairs into the connector. The only downside I've found with a standalone wire stripper is that it's not very heavy, but to be honest I use a wire stripper on crimping machines most of the time. Supplement to the tool box. One final mention: it's not great for everyday professional use, but it'll be fine for casual use.
