I bought it for running in winter. I used a separate alligator for the hat and neck, which can be a little chunky and doesn't hold its shape when adjusted. This skull cap is essentially a fleece lined, fitted balaclava that is definitely more comfortable. I rushed to buy it and only after receiving it did I realize that it leaves your neck open. I thought about returning it and I'm so glad I didn't! This piece is warm, windproof and doesn't lose its shape when put on. My jacket also came up high enough that the wind on the back of my head didn't bother me. The only awkward thing is that the earcups curl up and look pretty goofy. But I'm pretty sure it's because my head is smaller. My final comment to the manufacturer: I wish it had lighter colors or was reflective to improve visibility for oncoming traffic, especially since it's advertised for work.
