Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful Liberty Pumps 287 Sump Pump: Gray, 1-1/2" - Superior Performance for Effective Drainage by Andres Black

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! Blows away everything that could be found in stores.

This is my third pump for the brick foundation of the house. Although we are outside of the flood plain on the FEMA map, heavy rain brought water into the home. It's been coming faster than the ground can recover lately, and the last storm hit at high tide. The pump I had could not handle the amount of water coming in. We rushed to Home Depot to get another pump, got the biggest one, and it barely kept up with the infiltrating water. So I bought this Liberty 287 that pumps more than two of the others together. Now this is my most important and all I can say is wow. The other two pumps are atomizers. This thing is like a fire hose. Now the swamp hasn't rained enough since I filled it in, and I feel like a kid who got a sled for his July birthday. I want to see that thing in action. This pump is more complicated than the commercially available ones. A socket can withstand more than a garden hose. Since I'm not a pro, there was trial and error with the installation. I fit PVC pipe with 1-1/2" threads. I put a check valve on it and attached 1.5" flexible hose to the top end. (The outlet is actually two inches, I'll do the installation never understand.) I've only seen it work once when I tested it in a 5 gallon bucket. It shot water 10ft in the air and emptied the bucket in less than a second. This scares my wife did.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for older people
