I read a lot of reviews before buying it and I got the impression people were divided about the scent. Same goes for Effax Leather Balm and I like the smell of beeswax and lanolin so I thought I might like the smell of Belvoir too. Not so! It's richly floral, like a strange perfume, and I've been trying for a long time to figure out if the flower it reminds me of is ilak or lily of the valley. I let my mom smell it and she thought it was lily of the valley. Mind you, I love the scent of *real* lilac and lily of the valley, but I wasn't thrilled with this scent in a leather conditioner. I gifted it to my mum and I think I'll either stick with Effax or make my own. (My only complaint about the otherwise great Effax leather balm is that the smell can get a little rancid over time, probably because they use avocado oil, which has a short shelf life. I've thought about making my own, a leather balm made from beeswax, lanolin and jojoba oil, which must be stable during storage.)
