Unfortunately the float system doesn't work very well. The bowl is only about a quarter full, and then the hand isn't sensitive enough to move down when the bowl is completely empty. I live in South Texas and bought this for my chickens who need constant water to stay hydrated. So for me it's pretty much useless as I have to lower the float several times a day when I realize it's empty.
