Review on πŸ’» Black IOGEAR 2-Port USB DisplayPort Cable KVM Switch by Martin Dosunmu

If you have a laptop or multiple monitors, get the GCS932UB instead

I had to return this product as it lacks the EDID feature which makes it appear like the monitor is still connected when he is disconnected from the computer. Both my MacBook Pro and Windows PC moved the desktop and resized the window every time I switched from them as the desktop is set up to span 2 monitors on both computers. The GCS922U disables the monitor when switching, causing the computer to automatically move the desktop to another monitor that is still connected. If the primary and secondary display resolutions do not match, the application windows are automatically resized and repositioned. bad! It has only one USB cable for each computer, so keyboard and mouse input are combined like a hub before being sent to the computer. This may or may not be good for you. I think it's regardless of what goes into the 2 USB ports and it worked fine with my wireless mouse. I replaced the above device with a very similar IO Gear GCS932UB ($20 more) because it has the EDID function. No more problems with moving and resizing. Note that the mouse emulation feature is enabled by default on this model, and if you have anything other than an old mouse, you will likely need to disable this feature (via keyboard shortcuts) before your mouse will work. My M705 wireless mouse didn't work until I disabled this feature. Unlike the GSC922U that led you to this review, the more advanced GCS932UB requires a keyboard to be plugged into one port and a mouse to another. Using a wireless keyboard and mouse combo with a single USB adapter can be challenging. Read other reviews to see if others can help you sort this out. In general I don't recommend the GSC922U unless you have a laptop (or a laptop configured as a cloned desktop with the same resolution as the monitor) with a monitor and the same desktop resolution. . Try disconnecting and reconnecting the monitor to each computer with a series of windows open and see if anything changes. If things change, the extra $20 for the GCS932UB will be worth it.
