Review on GE 14298 Enbrighten Weather Resistant Smart Device by Niranjan Reynolds

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the Z-Wave Outdoor Plug you are looking for!

First off, this is my second GE Z-Wave outdoor switch, I also have a Gen 1 model. Similarities between Gen 1 and Gen 2:1. Let's just start with that. Any model will just work and work fine, I've had no problems. They just connected to my Hubitat hub. They're both obviously out and therefore not very close to my Hubitat hub, but I've never had any issues with losing connection or being unusable. 2. Both have physical on/off buttons. Why is Gen 2 better than Gen 1:1? Less than 2. Includes the ability to attach to anything3. Removes the stupid Gen 1 rubber plug which is literally useless. I plugged it in next to the hub, Hubitat immediately picked it up and added it. From there I added it to my controls and processes and it just works flawlessly. Nothing more to say about this product, this is a simple Z-Wave outdoor plug. It just works and doesn't add any complexity. If you're looking for an outdoor Z-Wave plug to control things like lights, Christmas lights, decorations, and more, this should be high on your list. Other products may be cheaper or have 2 plugs instead of one (I've seen several when looking for a second plug) but I chose this one because I'm a little concerned that these other well-known brand plugs will hurt me could cause more headaches. Stop having problems with my hub, disconnects, or not always responding to commands. I can't tell you if those fears are justified, I can tell you this is my second GE Z-Wave outdoor fork and I've been using the Gen 1 for over a year and now have the Gen 2 during those holiday years no problem speaking out. My Hubitat automatically knew what the device was and used Hubitat's built-in GE Enbrighten Z-Wave Smart Switch driver without having to use a generic driver or add a driver. I am currently using Hubitat v2.2.4.158. When I originally added the Gen 1 plug last year, Hubitat didn't have that specific GE driver and instead used the generic plug driver, which also worked very well, so you should be fine-tuned anyway.
