addendum: so I ended up keeping the device for myself. Works well and had no problems with it. Regarding the remote, I think the problem was in the battery itself because I put another fresh battery in it and didn't have any more problems. I'm thinking about buying another one but see the price going down because it's now more than what I originally paid. This unit was very well packaged and protected for shipping. I've been using it for a few days and it's really quiet, you won't know it's running at lower speeds but it works, you'll feel the fan blowing in the back. I have three cats and I will update the photos so we can see all the wool they catch in a month. sleep function which i love. I used it last night and the screen is black so there is no 'night light' to wake up the sensitive sleeping ME. The only thing that confuses me now is the remote control that came with it. When I unpacked it, I put in fresh AAA batteries and placed it on my bedside table. When I woke up the next morning it felt hot. I opened the back cover and the battery was melted. Now I'm afraid to even use it with another new replacement. I will update my review and let you know if I am keeping this cleaner due to the problem removed.
