Filled Blu-ray Player

I've just started using this Blu-ray player and have been happy with its performance so far. The main reason I bought this brand and model is because they can play SACD multi-channel discs. I tested it with Blu-ray, DVD, CD and SACD and it worked flawlessly. It also has a lot of streaming options, which I'm just beginning to explore. I've already set it up for VUDU, Sony Entertainment, and Revain Instant Video and it works great. The main menu is a bit confusing at first compared to my last Blu-Ray, but you get used to it. It is connected to a Yamaha 7.2 Receiver Yamaha RX-V675 7.2ch Network AV Receiver with Airplay via HDMI (HDMI is required for SACD playback) which is then connected to my TV via HDMI and everything works excellent together. I get 7.1 audio from Blu-Ray, 5.1 audio from DVD and some SACDs, and 2.0 audio from CD as expected. I also tested it with a DTS encoded multi-channel audio CD and it worked great too. I'm using a direct wired network connection, so I can't comment on the wireless capabilities. I also don't have a 3D or 4K TV, so I can't comment on those features. It's a pretty small device with all its features, but I think smaller is better. I recommend this player for many reasons, even if you don't need the SACD function and the price is not bad for all its features. Update: what a bummer, this player quickly started freezing constantly and has to be turned off and on again. Reset connection as stated in other reviews. When it's locked and flashing "off" on the display, it also locks the local area of my home wired network. It took me a while to figure out the cause because I didn't know the player was defective until I saw the flashing indicator. The main problem seems to be related to the network functions: after using the network and trying to turn off the player, it freezes with a blinking indicator, which requires disconnection and reconnection. Even after turning it off, it refuses to connect to the network and freezes again. I immediately updated the firmware to the latest version, so this is not the cause unless the issue is related to the latest update. If I didn't need the unique features of this device I would probably return it and buy a different brand, although Sony usually makes a quality product. I will be returning it for a replacement and hopefully get a working one. Thank you to the other reviewers for letting me know this isn't a unique issue or any issue with my setup, otherwise I'd be hunting my tail trying to figure this out. I will update after receiving and testing the replacement. Update 2: The original player worked properly again without any changes, just as quickly as it started crashing, this looks like a real intermittent issue. I'm going with a spare. The replacement arrived and I installed it thanks to Revain's excellent returns policy and fast delivery. No problems so far, initially works just as well as the original, and I've also updated the new one to the latest firmware. I tried to reproduce everything as in the first part, but I focused on the network functions, since this is where the problem manifested itself and everything was fine. It really is a great player when it works as it should. Must be a problem with some Sony players as there are some good reviews for this player but a fair number of bad reviews most of which say the same about freezing and freezing when using network features. There are always bad reviews about something, but it seems like a legitimate issue. I will update this again if anything negative happens with this new replacement. I hope this one lives up to Sony's usual quality standards. update 3; Works great, no problems. I would recommend this player, but I would also recommend testing it carefully upon receipt to ensure everything is working as it should, especially the network functions. If not, Revain will replace it with one that actually works. If you don't use network functions, then you shouldn't have any problems with this player.
