Review on Zyxel NAS326: Personal Cloud Storage [2-Bay] with Remote Access & Media Streaming – Disks Not Included by Kiril Nakov ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not exactly what I wanted, but basically everything is fine.

As a side note... Who makes use of operating systems that are based on the Linux kernel. Afterwards, the NAS is rapidly and automatically identified and shown in the Nautilus file manager in the GNOME 3.X graphical environment by making use of the AFP protocol, which is an intriguing development. And there are no issues to speak about. Without making any further adjustments to the parameters.

Pros
  • - A gigabit network card that is built in. - One USB 2.0 port in addition to two USB 3.0 ports. - Room for two hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid-state drives (SSDs) with a total capacity of up to 12 terabytes (that is, two disks with a capacity of 6 terabytes each). RAID 0 and 1 combined. However, you also have the option of installing a single hard drive. You are also able to monitor the status of your hard drives through the web interface (S. M. A. R. T.). - A wide variety of transfer protocols, including SMB, NFS, AFP, FTP, TFTP, and WebDAV. It is possible to use a web server that offers support for PHP, MySQL, SSL, and other technologies. Installing ZyXEL WorldPress can even be done via the Application Center thanks to the availability of this option. You have the ability to set up synchronization with Google Drive and DropBox. - You are able to set up your very own OwnCloud Server. Further information can be found at the ZyXEL Application Center.
Cons
  • - Do not position it so that it faces the area in which you sleep. It is in your best interest to relocate to a location where it cannot be heard. For instance, I stored it in the nightstand by placing a piece of dense foam on top of it. It is now totally inaudible, as if it never existed un the first place. - The mobile application can no longer be used in any way. I'm referring to the ZyXEL Drive here. Because of that, I was never able to join this NAS, not even on the network in my own home. - When you turn on WebDAV, this NAS immediately starts experiencing hiccups. That is, in the event that it is unable to enter the settings when logged in as the Administrator for the initial attempt. The computer only "says" that the password is incorrect rather than really checking it. After sending an email to ZyXEL's technical assistance, I received a response stating that the company had duplicated my situation at home and indeed detected a fault. However, they responded by saying that they were unable to solve this problem and that they would not attempt to fix it in the future. In most cases, the only thing that can be done to fix this issue is to turn off WebDAV and avoid using it.
