This replaced the OEP replacement ignition coil in a 94 C1500 with a 350, 5.7 liter engine. I'll try to post updates as often as some people say it's a fantastic replacement and others say it doesn't make a difference or stopped working sooner. I have had this car for 24 years now. It's not my daily driver anymore, but I still use it frequently and am very sensitive to any change in performance. I noticed a difference in the ignition coil almost immediately. At nearby speeds, it seemed fuller or bouncier with the umf behind it. Not sure if this is due to the extra burn from the upgraded coil or just replacing an old coil that has been in use for a year or two. Anyway, it was a noticeable hit, and once I took it out on the interstate and was able to get out a bit, I can tell the engine feels more powerful under acceleration. Previously, there was a slight delay between pressing the gas pedal and accelerating. Now the lag is gone and there is a fairly smooth transition between throttle opening and engine RPM, which translates to acceleration. Again, this may be minimal, but I've driven the truck enough miles to say it undeniably doesn't matter. . Another thing that I noticed and will update soon is the gas mileage. I never got more than 9 1/2 mpg in this truck. I've been fiddling and fiddling with all the mods under the sun and listening to people with the same engine claiming to be in their mid-teens, but with the windows open, the air conditioning on and a mix of highway and city miles, my mileage had always been around 9.5 . mpg With the windows down, the A/C off and the same mpg mix, 9.5 is what I've been limited to since I bought this truck in the 90's. Calculations and run the numbers again. If that $50 coil turns out to have destroyed my horsepower and mileage after year after year of fiddling with anything under the hood to improve mileage, I'd be stunned. So I decided to run a total of 3 tanks through the engine with normal driving habits (without filling it up or towing trailers) and then going back to update my rating and average my MPG over 3 intentional runs. I have already replaced the ignition coil. when tuning, but I've always replaced it with an OEM accurate coil. This is the first time I've used a higher voltage coil. Review TL,DR - Noticed an immediate improvement in engine performance in the 5.7L Chevy TBI engine and will be back soon with MPG numbers. Otherwise I'm very happy with the update. Update in a few weeks: The truck is running better than ever and I've now been able to average gas mileage across multiple tanks. I'm consistently between 12.25 and 12.5 mpg. It amazes me that years of struggling with fuel economy and fiddling with everything under the hood hasn't helped, but adding that single coil core gave almost 33% more mileage, but the numbers don't lie I don't think. As mentioned above I have had a truck for over 20 years and have been keeping track of my mileage since I bought it on pen and paper and never went above 9.5/10mpg until I replaced the ignition coil. I will update this review again over time.
