Battery problem solved! Jesus Chargers!

So, with a lot of big toys I have a lot of batteries that most don't use up until I go and use the car/toy/boat etc. So needless to say I've been keeping Diehard in business for probably the last 5 years! Finally, while I'm tired of removing and replacing batteries, especially since they haven't gotten that damn expensive! I just replaced 6 batteries in my van for about 1000. I removed the batteries using large 12 volt batteries that were about 3 years old. They were to live for at least a year, but unfortunately their neglect led to their untimely death. So after digging around the internet and battery repair I found a lot of information. Chemicals, knick-knacks, household tricks and battery repair centers. The most popular trick I learned a long time ago that doesn't work is to drain the acid from the battery and replace it with deionized water. Well, it won't work for very long. This will bring your battery back from the dead for about 1-2 weeks until it is beyond repair at that point. Kits that use some kind of weird powder do pretty much the same thing, reviving the battery for a few days at best. The problem is that crystals will form on the lead plates and interfere with electron transfer, water and a failed coolant mix won't fix anything. The only way to fix this is to remove the crystal lattice structure from the lead plates themselves. This can be accomplished in two ways, the first is to disassemble the battery and place the lead plates in an acid mixture outside of the plastic casing (the acid will eat away at the plastic). can and should be left to professional battery repair shops and you will need a new case after destroying the old one. Second is the transfer of energy in certain phases of the battery to burn the crystals. This is a tedious and very precise process. If you connect power to a battery incorrectly, it will either explode, destroying it completely, or burning your house down. Done right, it will greatly improve your battery life. I have now used this on my boat batteries, excursion batteries and jet ski batteries and it has brought them all out of near death with barely enough amperage to do everything to near full recovery at 80-90% light again. The fact that this thing alone saved me almost a thousand batteries has paid off. In addition to the ability to repair the battery, it offers a smart charger and a battery load tester. The charger works great but can't draw very much current as it's so small it's good for long charging times (max 8 amps). The tester works great and gives you easy to use built-in instructions on what to do and how to read magazines. The device itself is solid and well made and also very portable, unlike a traditional car charger which is large and bulky. I also really liked the case that came with it. It's just a basic bag but it's very handy and really anything that comes with various cords should be able to carry around and not lose it. This thing fits easily into any setup I work in and is easy to use. In general, it has already paid off 10 times. While the batteries will last another year at best, it's still worth getting a set of batteries to last another year. All in all I am very satisfied!

Pros

Cons
  • Doubtful
