Review on BOSCH OSL114CG Starlock Oscillating Multi Tool Carbide Grit Plunge Cut Blade: Enhanced Precision and Durability at 1-1/4 by Patrick Keita

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Potential quality control issues. Can still work

The first blade I bought in January was amazing - it performed well, which is what I expected it to do, and was an amazing price (about $5 at the time ). I recently bought 3 more for the same purpose and used them to make cut outs in old stucco walls with a button panel behind the stucco (probably 50's buildings) to retrofit new electrical boxes. The first blade cut through the plaster amazingly well while eating the metal blades alive and allowed me to get amazingly tight tolerance results on modified blueboard boxes, saving any plaster bridges common when using serrated drywall knives in plaster . However there are some quality control issues at the moment as I bought 3 more blades two days ago and my original blade went through at least 30 cuts before it was finished. dull enough that the plaster began to fall off, the first blade began shedding large chunks of carbide sand at the first hole. My original blade made at least 15 holes before I noticed a little wear on the corners of the blade (which I think is to be expected given the way the blade works from side to side). I have contacted Bosch and will not be using the other two recently purchased blades until I know if I have received a defective batch of blades or if this is to be expected and the first order exceeded all expectations. Will edit the review accordingly based on their response.
