I bought this hammer on sale and can't believe the deal. For a slightly higher price than the equivalent HF hammer, you get a much better product. The hammer head is well made. Both heads are well polished. The entire head appears to be painted or epoxy coated to prevent rust. I expect it will wear out over time, but it hasn't started to peel and chip like I'm used to with cheap tools. The wooden stick is light and fits well in the hand. Speaking of the HF equivalent, its plastic handle weighs a lot more, leaving the whole tool less balanced in your hand. The Vaugn feels like all the weight is in the head and is significantly lighter overall. The overall effect is a tool that's easier to use, more accurate, and hits a lot harder. I would love to see more of these American values!
