I wanted some inexpensive chisels to replace the old general work chisels I use when I don't want to use my 'good' Buck and vintage Sorby wood chisels. I was not expecting much for the price but thought almost any chisels would fill the need. I was absolutely amazed at the quality of these chisels for the price. The wood handles and steel are nicely finished. The blades were ground straight and the edges did not have chips or grinding dings. They, as almost all chisels and planes, need to be honed before using. The grind angle is not exactly standard, but it was easy to put a 25 degree bevel. The back side grind was a bit coarser than I like and it cleaned up quickly.Based on how quickly the edges cleaned up when honing and how the wire edge formed while honing I think these are not a high hardness steel. They did take a nice sharp edge and, for the price and the intended use, I do not mind touching them more frequently than the expensive ones. Overall, I am VERY impressed with the quality at this price. You should expect to hone them on receipt and probably periodically during use.
