Review on Hygger Spectrum Extendable Controller Freshwater by Lois Dennis

I only bought this because it was the only aquarium light I could find with a plastic cover on the LEDs and I wanted to make sure that no moisture ever got on the LEDs. It was mounted under the hood but never closer than 2 inches to the waterline. Well I lived without it for almost three months before it stopped working. Upon inspection, the entire unit was filled with condensation and corrosion that wrecked an otherwise good, efficient aquarium. Lamp. If you look closely at the pictures you can see all the dirt and water droplets INSIDE the lamp. And this light never got into the water, I was very careful. As stated in the promotional notice above: . There is no steam. * We use waterproof glue to fill the seams to prevent water droplets from being exposed to light. * Please note this is not a submersible LED light, do not put it in water. Accidentally falling into the water for a while will not damage it. This can work well outside of a tank, say with a glass jar. But under the hood, in an always humid environment, it accumulated condensation, dirt and eventually failed. So I went back to using the rather shoddy LED bulb that came installed in my original hood. Not pretty, but at least it works.
