Revainrating 5 out of 5

My 50 pound 5 year old son has never dived underwater with it and has been held upright every time!

This product is worth its price. I actually went to Walmart after purchasing this item and was dismayed that they didn't have a life jacket with this rating. I was not aware of the reviews when purchasing this item. I did extensive research beforehand and found that this is the nominal lifespan you need for maximum security. A week prior to arrival and prior to my exploration, my son went swimming and was given a life jacket at the facility. When he put it on, he nearly drowned. Despite wearing a life jacket, he lifted him to the surface of the water and landed on his back. In this position, the water rushed into his nose and because of the way it swam, he couldn't get back on his feet to get up. Several other parents jumped into the water and saved him before I got to him. It's scary to imagine what would have happened if they hadn't been there. This is what prompted me to purchase this product. Right out of the box I could see that this product was more durable, had straps on the bottom to make sure it stayed in place and had bright colors to alert anyone when they were in the water and needed help. When I put it on him it fit his chest well, had a comfortable strap around his neck that didn't chafe, also was well padded but not too bulky or heavy for my 5 year old. But the proof was in the pudding. We took him to the lake and I immediately saw the difference as soon as he got in the water. He held it up and it weighed almost 50 pounds. He never sank underwater but swam safely. I highly recommend this product if you are concerned about your child's safety. -- Stearns PFD 2000013196 7976 Type II
