I bought this as a Christmas present for my child. After all the use I can say it's holding up a lot better than I expected. In this price range it fulfills everything I expected and does not fall apart easily. Pros: Silver and gold are very different colors. Other reviews mention that this is not the case. Maybe the package has changed. But mine is exactly like the photo. Very silver and very gold in almost every light. The strength of the magnets is sufficient for use in the car and on uneven surfaces. Not very strong magnets but I can hold the set upside down and the pieces stay in place. Of course they fall when I shake the board. But I wasn't expecting super magnets. This balance of magnetic force can also be felt when the figures are moved. If they were stronger you would lift the board and have to hold it. I believe the strength of the magnet is just right. Cons: - Cheap Chinese product. However, this way the price stays low and that makes it good value for money. The thin border around the board can break at the corners. This does not affect the field of play. I really want these corners to be rounded. So far only one corner has broken off. - Doesn't really close securely. So we keep it in the box it came in. To avoid this, I recommend a simple rubber band. Problem solved. So there aren't too many downsides here either. Neutral: Good portable size. But some people might find the 9.7 inch board small. For the price, size, and features, this is a great set. Especially if you are not sure whether the recipient will like chess at all. If you love chess and want to spend a lot more money there are many better sets. The price of this set was perfect for me and my kids.
