I just started using this new filter and threw away my old one. This caused a very bad odor. I have been using this humidifier for 4 years and have changed the filter quite often (same brand filters). I've never smelled like this before. I thought it was because my humidifier was getting old. I clean my humidifier every day and add fresh new water. Because of the smell, I tried cleaning it with white vinegar but that didn't work. I used bleach and cleaned my humidifier again. It didn't help at all. I was starting to think it might be a new filter. I removed the filter and can now breathe in my bedroom. The smell from the filter was awful and harmful to my new born baby. I am not sure if I will buy it again, the smell will be the same.
