After 6 valve cycles in 3 years, the plastic gears broke off and the valve jammed. So I changed it to

. So I replaced it with something better. Fortunately, all valve cycles were done for testing and practice purposes only. I've never had a real leak. Now I have a Fibaro Flood Sensor ZW3, a water leak detector. Shut-off valve Z-Wave. (Well made and industrial.) Valve. I can control everything with the SmartThings iPhone app. I get a notification as well as an SMS when there is a leak. The alerts will continue every hour until I cancel.
