Review on ๐Ÿ”ง AstroAI 2000 Count Digital Multimeter with DC AC Voltmeter, Ohm Volt Amp Tester - Voltage, Current, Resistance Measurement; Live Wire Testing, Continuity Detection by Francis Vasquez

Small numbers, bad backlight (blue), cheap cables, inaccurate

To be honest I wasn't expecting much from a $10 multimeter. An inexpensive device is needed to read small ham cells before and after a charging cycle. Bought this + another brand ($20) for comparison. Came in with a dead 9V, contacted the seller who said buy a battery and refund. This is poor customer service in my opinion and an indication of what not to expect when a warranty is required. Coming back to the article, the device itself is solidly built, with a removable rubber outer shell and mediocre cables. I can see where the wire goes into a real plug, it would be easy to pull the wire out! But then again, that's $10. I then did a voltage test with this unit, a Crenova MS8233D ($20 Revain) and an Improbe AM-20 ($65 professional multimeter). 7.4 volt charged Li-ion battery, measured outside of the radio, place all 3 multimeters next to each other. Crenova & Improbe agreed that the voltage is exactly 7.96 volts. This Astro only measured 7.88 volts. Repeated test with the same results. I contacted the seller who told me to "buy another battery" to see what they offer regarding the warranty on a new inaccurate multimeter. I only keep the counters whose voltage matches, hence the resulting counter is defective. Even my $3.99 "free with every purchase" Harbor Freight multimeter matches the other 2 meters. I recommend buying the Crenova MS8233D if you want more bang for your buck. It includes a good carrying case for the unit and cables, a second set of alligator cables and covers for the pointed ends of the probes + inserts for the connector end of each cable. Cables are attached to the sides of the unit and securely protected by a hard plastic cover on pointed probes. And 100% accurate, the cables are thick and well made. More bang for your buck and done right. What this Astro lacks: a case, clips, quality cables, caps, etc.
