The laser is well built, sturdy and can take some abuse on construction site. It comes in a sturdy packaging. It has a magnet so you can attach it to metal surface or you can mount it on a tripod. You can also lay it flat on pretty much anything. We already have a tripod for this very purpose. The laser light is bright and easily noticeable, the distance on a sunny day is about 70ft, we live in tropical environment and the sun is non stop beating us down. At sunset or on a cloudy day you can probably get more than that, I haven’t tried it. We own different laser levelers so we already know how to use it, this is no different than other lasers. Brightness, distance and functionality is comparable to our Craftsman leveler.
