I applied this almost 1 year ago and I haven't had any rips or tears. The area around my sink is always wet and it has never stepped through water. It's very thin and easy to work with, but I would suggest using the Windex method they use to tint windows as it's extremely sticky and difficult to move around without damaging the contact paper if you're concerned with its placement are not satisfied. I ordered two rolls and it was enough for a counter with some leftovers. The only downside is that the gray color is almost purple. Overall the contact paper is still great and I get lots of compliments, even from my landlord.
