Review on πŸ”Œ DEWALT 20V Max XR Brushless Cordless Router (Tool Only, DCW600B) by Jon Dugan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Portable, light - some issues

Background I'm used to heavier and bulkier routers and wanted something for smaller tasks. This router fits my current main power supply. It seems that the choice of battery dictates which tool to buy. I have three different batteries (Sears, Milwaukee and DeWalt). DeWalt has become the one to turn to when others have long been in the teeth. I will say that Craftsman batteries have lasted 13 YEARS. This is not a typo. Here are the positives of this router after about 6 hours of use: * Good LED lighting * Easy speed adjustment * Good weight and balance * Performance is good. (adequate for its size) * Suitable for free use in tight spaces * Seems to be well built (except for the latch) Not so good: * The speed controller is easy to press and you can change the speed by barely touching it . The latches need to be stronger to prevent this. * The latch that secures the two-piece body fell off while I "milled" causing the bit to slip and destroying the part I was working on. The latch is easy to reattach, but the design is questionable.* This consumes less battery life in about 5 minutes. Plan some 6Ah batteries for it if you don't want to wait for the batteries to charge. There are some great brands here at Revain that cost a lot less than DeWalt. (Check my other reviews to see which one you should buy) * Replacing the bits is a little cumbersome and would be easier if you didn't have to separate the 2 pieces. It would be great to be able to swap out the nozzle quickly. Overall I am happy with this router. Hope that helps!
