so, if you're actually trying to turn off the main, this is way too short to get in there. While I can't blame the product, it does say how tall it is, be careful to measure the distance you need before ordering.

This is a great, solidly welded tool. Easy to use and store. Reasonable price. Pocket key was a nice addition to the package.

The valve is a little hard to get at, being below ground level and within a confined space. On top of that the valve is VERY hard to turn. I tried using various wrenches I had on hand, but none gave me both the proper access and enough leverage.This tool did the job. The 17-inch length helped a lot.

We had a water leak at our church that didn't get caught in time before any damage was done! And due to the fact that no one is at the church but twice a week we've been cutting the water supply until we have service! Long story short, this is a real back saver and safety enhancement, I say safety because in order to cut the water off you'll have to reach down in the meter box. This is a rural area so certain reptiles can be found in strange places I. E. Meter boxes!

no electronics, no wifi needed, just a great tool built for it's intended use- no need to buy the long one, I think it was used only by the meter reader-( if there are any left) to avoid bending over for each reading.

I can use the meter key but I'll have to use pliers to open the meter pit. This is NOT a tool for opening meter vaults. That's my review.

I bought this for an easy tool to turn water on and off at a weekend property. This is small for simple storage and way more convenient than using pliers. Can't beat the price either--totally worth it.

Seriously you can practically hold it in the palm of your hand.Not long enough to reach a deep valve. The handle isn't long enough to give good torque when turning the valve. (they are usually very hard to turn)All those 5 star reviews are suspicious looking.

The water meter key is nice and sturdy. However, it arrived missing the 4-way utility key. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a recurring thing for this product. I have started an exchange process. I'll update this review after the exchange process is finished (the item is backordered, so the replacement isn't set to arrive for 17 days).

They sell a similar product at the big box store . but it was cheaper here. It worked just fine without the key. The key for me is a bonus item for the house we live in.

This thing is incredible. I can turn the water off and on sooooo hard with this. It made me feel like Batman.no The Incredible Hulk.wait.No!.Superman!

I should have paid more attention to description as this water key is short —I ended up gifting to my daughter & will purchase a longer key for my use. Think I would have been fine with short one if I were younger but longer one will not require me to stoop so low

I didn’t scroll through to see the size and assumed it was bigger, but it’s extremely sturdy! I’m very impressed a tool every homeowner should get!

I had to shut off the water to my house to install a shower head. The tool fit the value and I had no problems. The key may be too long for some individuals to maneuver in tight spaces.

Fits the valve nub fairly well but the handle was in the way of my pit opening. I replaced it with a shorter tool. Better test to see if 12 inches will be too tall for your meter pit.

Several other reviews mentioned that this tool may be too short for some meter boxes. It was long enough for mine, but I couldn't use it anyway because the valve is sort of under the lip of the meter box and I can't get the tool on straight. It seems well built overall though, so just make sure your valve is less than a foot underground and there's nothing blocking it and it should work fine. Otherwise it's a waste of money.

It does the job. Just wish I had bought one a little longer than the 12 inches to reach the meter cut off, when meter box is filled with water.

Too short of a handle for my needs and the wrong size opening for the shutting off on main water valve outside. Thanks for attention.
