I like the feel of the router, the only thing that perhaps bugs me, is that the depth adjustment is a little loose before tightening. I would prefer a little more of a tight fit on the depth adjustment screw, and hence a more positive and precise depth setting. But I can work with this. It came standard with an 8mm blade, so I did purchase a 3+6mm supplementary set as well, also available here on revain Cowryman Router Plane Replacement Blades 3mm 6mm 8mm Blades (3MM+6MM) . The blade came with…

Pros
  • Perfect
Cons
  • Time-consuming to set up and adjust

If you have big hands, this may be too small to use.

I've been looking for one of these for a long time. Used it for the first time today to clean out some mortise joints. It works well but could be better. For one the two handles are way too small. I could only get my ring and pinky fingers around them and I have small hands. This makes it difficult to hang on to it well. Also, once you set the depth I strongly suggest that you tighten the wing nut with pliers. Hand tightening alone won't hold the blade in place. I am not sure just how long this

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • The handheld design can cause hand fatigue for prolonged use

Good for a first time user!

This is the first router plane I've ever owned (or used), and I love it!It came out of the box super sharp and ready to go! Even without any experience using a routing plane, I was able to figure it out- it's a pretty simple device.I recommend using the "alternative" tightening screw provided- it gives a more ergonomic feel to tightening the blade.I only have a few small complaints:First, the depth screw has no markings on it- it's hard to tell how deep you are cutting. This seems to be common…

Pros
  • I use it a lot for making boxes, drawers, etc. Keep it sharp, and it'll serve you well.
Cons
  • The blade guard may impede visibility

Good starter tool on my review.

Good little tool but that's also the bad part not made for large hand. My finers were almost blistered from rubbing against the blade block but can be fixed by adding handles that stick out to the side more. If you have large fingers or hands like me you should probably spend a little more and get the bigger model they also sell.

Pros
  • Sharp and effective. I use this primarily to clean up mortises and rabbitts
Cons
  • Limited versatility, as it can only be used for woodworking projects

Lightweight, readjusting for deeper cuts, two types of locks

Easy to use, you will have to keep readjusting the depth of the cutting chisel for deeper cuts its roughly 8"-10" wide I don't remember so it's small so it doesn't take up much space, it does come with two types of chisel locks one is an allen head screw the other is a plastic handle for speed locking.Overall worth the money if you really enjoy doing everything by hand. You can attach a guide to use for it.

Pros
  • This is a well made tool. Very sharp and easy to adjust to the setting you need.
Cons
  • Inability to adjust depth on the fly

Decent Router Plane

This tool is made well the base & handles are smooth the iron seems to be well made also I honed the edge it is super sharp, I have two issues with this tool, one is the wing nut that holds the iron tight is not a good idea it seems to get in the way a bit & Iam afraid the wing nut will snap at some point. The 2nd thing is the iron is a bit wobbly where it fits into the base it could have been machined too tighter tolerances.

Pros
  • This was for my boyfriend. He loved it. I even to see him use it!
Cons
  • Can be unwieldy for larger projects

You will be happy if you purchase this router plane.

I was pleasantly surprised with this tool. Great value for the price. By the looks of the product photo from revain, I thought I’d need to flatten the bottom of the plane, but it was much smoother and ready to use than the picture described. The knife edge was sharp and ready-to-use out of the box. Good small size and solid weight. Easy and accurate to adjust. I’m very happy with this thing. Highly recommended. I have nothing negative to say about it.

Pros
  • Excellent product
Cons
  • May be difficult to find replacement blades for the router

Router Plane on my review.

Wonderful stout plane. Feels good in the hand, and adjusts easy. Well packaged, and the seller sharpened the iron which was a nice touch. Very pleased with this addition to my shop.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Not suitable for finishing purposes

Worked Great on my review.

It worked as advertised. I love having a consistent depth on door mortises. Great stuff using old school hand tools, but more accurate than just a chisel.

Pros
  • ‎Blade
Cons
  • May leave gouges or uneven marks on the wood

Small but capable, especially for the price

It is small but plenty sturdy and came with a fairly sharp cutter out of the box which is nice. The adjustment mechanism has a lot of backlash, so it was inconvenient for me to fine adjust but certainly possible. Some washers will sort it out, but it'd be nice to have a little closer tolerances out of the box. It'd also be nice to have a depth stop, even if it was an optional accessory.

Pros
  • I have already use this for so many things! Love my new tool!
Cons
  • No depth stop, making it difficult to maintain consistent cuts

Very well-built plane.

Very sturdy little plane. Well built. Easy to adjust depth of cut once I figured out the best way. Blade was razor sharp out of the box. I am sure the Cowryman Router Plane will last for many generations.

Pros
  • It is smaller than I expected but it is in a perfect quality and good material
Cons
  • Specialized knowledge required to use effectively

Well-made little plane

Seems very well made; the sole was flat and the cutter was tight in it's slot and seemed to be pretty solid when clamped in position using the thumbscrew shown in the picture but a ratcheting handle was supplied to give more clamping force if needed. The edges on the upper parts were sharp, so need some work to remove the sharp corners on the upper surfaces to make it more comfortable to handle. The cutter was pretty sharp as received but needed some polishing and honing to make it work better.

Pros
  • Seems to be build well.
Cons
  • The blade guard may be prone to damage or breakage

Great product for a great price

It’s a great little plane. New favorite toy. I burned about six hours on it so far. Holds a good edge so far. Used on ash and cedar so far.

Pros
  • In lays
Cons
  • Not suitable for trimming or cutting edges

A Great Tool to Have

this planer was a great purchase. super sharp and easy to use. works like a charm, and left me with flat, parallel surfaces.

Pros
  • Very well made. Now includes a a much stronger blade lock as well. Highly recommended.
Cons
  • Blade may cause splintering or cracking on the wood

Works right out of the box.

If you are after a router plane, stop looking. This thing is great. Easy to dial in. Sharp out of the box and a pleasure to use.

Pros
  • ‎No
Cons
  • May cause chip-out on end grain

Fantastic and Easy to Use

Having been a carpenter and cabinetmaker for many years, the Cowryman Router Plane is just about the easiest and most intuitive woodworking tool I’ve ever used. I was hesitant at the price at first, but found myself with a little extra cash and decided to invest it. This product is has exceptional value for the money you’ll part with to acquire it.I’ve been using it to assist with tenons, clean up dovetails, and create customized storage for my other hand tools. There are several versions…

Pros
  • Power Tools
Cons
  • Blade may be difficult to remove for cleaning or sharpening

Great tool. Worth the money

This was just what I needed. Didn’t want to spend a lot, and I feel I got my money’s worth. It was even sharp right out of the box

Pros
  • Quality tool, well engineered with good materials all at a very acceptable price point.
Cons
  • The blade guard may obstruct the view of the cut

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product, just too expensive for what it is.

Worked great, very happy with it. Its just too pricey for what it is. I could see a $50 price tag as the top tier amount I would pay.

Pros
  • ‎Tool,Woodworking
Cons
  • Single-handed use may cause uneven pressure on the blade

Need to modify for general router work

I would rate this higher if it was wider for general routing jobs, but it is a modification I had to make. Overall it is a good router for hinge and mortise routing but general routing is too small as I stated earlier. The blade is sharp out of the box and the body is machined true. It is actually a good router once modifications for the base are made and I do enjoy it.

Pros
  • ‎Cowryman
Cons
  • The blade may cause tear-out in certain types of wood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great alternative to more expensive products

This definitely isn't a Stanley hand plane. But for the price I was incredibly impressed with the results. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a hand router plane but not wanting to break the bank. The blades are also very easy to sharpen to maintain good results.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • The blade guard may be prone to rust or corrosion over time
