Review on Efficient Camco RV Roof Vent Cover: Optimal Air Ventilation for Your RV, Rain or Shine by Ray Richards

Inventory and inspect product prior to installation

This review is for Camco's Areo-flo. 2 problems and 1 suggestion. The package was missing 1 washer and 1 lock washer and one of the other lock washers was too small. There was also a small crack on the top cover next to the screw. Ok - to the hardware store. but wait - I ordered 2 (I have 2 roof vents) and luckily - the other set had a spare washer and a lock washer! the task is solved. A small crack in the top plate was repaired by adding a washer to the bolt. Suggestion - the instructions don't mention if your vent frame, which needs to be drilled 4 holes, is metal or plastic. Hence their instructions say drill bits 5/32 (for screws) or 7/32 (for bolts). Mine was plastic so I chose the smaller 9/64 bit for a tighter fit on the screws. I read something else. see where their unit has flown to. The mounting screw washers on the bottom are really the weak point of this type of lid - I plan to add a few washers as soon as I find replacement material, be it wood, plastic or stainless steel. By the way, the price increased by almost $20 in one month.
