These parts have a manufacturing defect, they cast the PCBs in silicone, but don't fill the mold high enough, so some of the electronics at the contact edge are uncoated. So when you pop the bulb into the socket, the socket contacts touch the electronics and short them, destroying the bulb instantly. I have found that I can still use this brand if I am careful to first cover the exposed electronics at the top edge with silicone and let it cure.Other observations:--The IR receiver is on one side, and way down by the contacts, so it's quite possible your particular install will make it difficult for the receiver to see the remote.--The R,G,B channels don't blend well, and any mixed colors are pretty much junk.--The brightness is just OK, I don't see what the dimming feature would be used for.Having said all that, I'm still using them because they're tiny and sealed. But they could definitely be improved.Update: after only a few power cycles for testing, and only a few minutes of total run time, the ones that work have stopped remembering their settings, resetting to white each time they are powered up. So now the 50% defect rate is 100% Clearly no one with automotive systems experience designed these for the noisy fluctuating environment.
