Review on πŸ’¦ Aqua Tec 8852-2J03-B423 Aquatec CDP 8800 Water Booster Pump + Transformer 115V 1/4 & 3/8, Black: Powerful Water Pressure Enhancer for Optimal Performance by Tom Oberhue

Almost silent and great pressure!

I bought this for my RODI setup. Thanks to one of the reviews, the first thing I looked for was the adjustment screw. it was there Next thing I did was turn the pump on for a few seconds with no water connected - some musty smelling water came out after factory testing. No problem. I was able to wash it easily. Since one of the reviews warned that the factory pressure was set too high, luckily I hooked it up to my RODI setup and only turned it on briefly to see my peak reading. ! Corrected by turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise. It took a full turn to drop the pressure to 80psi. This requires the smallest Torx allen key. I highly recommend that you do at least one full turn before connecting to your RODI device to avoid damaging the filters or membranes or blowing out the fittings. Then adjust from there. Also note that this is a diaphragm pump. The output pulses several times per second, causing your output line to jitter a lot. So take this into account when installing. Do not install directly on or in contact with your RODI installation. What I like: 1. Solid. Well done. The same applies to the power supply, which consists of a large REAL transformer. Input 110 VAC, output 24 VAC, 2 amps. It's not a wall wart either. A few meters of cable go into the transformer and a few meters of cable come out.2. Virtually silent in operation. Just a hum like an aquarium's air pump.3. Adjustable pressure. What I don't like: 1. Both the pump and the power supply get hot. I'm not worried about the power supply, there's only one transformer and everything will be fine. It's winter now and the pump should be fine too because the water in my faucet drops to 45F. I'm worried that the pump will get a little hot in the summer, but that's 8 months away.
