I compared both color and stitching to DMC. The color is very close in most cases. I would compare the color difference with another batch of the same brand of dye. In terms of stitch quality, this thread seems less twisted which makes it look a bit fuzzy when sewing next to DMC. Conclusion: I would not use DMCs of the same color in the same project as you will see a difference in both color and coverage. But I wouldn't hesitate to use this instead of DMC. One benefit this can have is 36k canvas. One strand of DMC is not enough for me and 2 strands are almost too much. Since it is a little "fluffier", 1 thread per 36k can be used. I just want to replace individual colors as needed. EDIT: I also tested on Opal and agree that it is NOT 100% cotton like DMC. So I wouldn't mix DMC and this thread in the same project or use them for your heirlooms. I only found 3 strands that they weren't.
