18 Months and Dead: Water Pumps, Parts & Accessories

I bought this to replace a 12 year old FlowJet 1000. If I didn't know better, it was a Flowjet. The threaded hole mounts are identical to the FlowJet. Just like the sanitary facilities. While the FJ was old, it seems to have more punch, less pulsation and a little quieter. I live alone. So I only use it for the water in my ice maker and the water in my fridge door. It has served me well for 18 months. I changed the tank as usual and came back about an hour later to see how it was doing. Only this time it didn't turn off as it lost its power and couldn't activate the pressure switch. I've done a few things like hold a 5 gallon jug of water over it and turn the jug on its side to direct the water. down the pipe. Nothing worked so I filled it with tap water and lined up the water. problem solved, right? no The next morning there was a puddle of water on the floor. The pump was leaking. I took it apart thinking it was a clamp or something. nope The pump housing literally cracked by itself. And now I know why. Nothing is fixed inside the pump housing. The pump is held in place by two pieces of foam that compress when inserted into the case. The pressure switch was hot glued to one of the two connectors and failed. The wiring harness also had hot glue to hold it in place. The interior is absolutely sad and built to the cheapest standards. No wonder it broke. He threw back the pillow and rubbed his body. So more cheap stuff from China that eventually breaks. Anyway I cleaned the pump housing and used waterproof epoxy to seal the housing. I don't expect this to last very long so I ordered another brand as a replacement. I can't add any pictures to this, but the hot glue construction is really sad.
