then I bought a marine battery recommended in the manual

I was dying for this item to work as I was looking for a reliable backup system for my drain pump. In short, I configured the system according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure it's compatible with my drain pump - Everbilt 1/2 HP drain pump. Check the input and output specifications, and then bought the marine battery recommended in the manual. My first problem was that when connected to a marine battery, the Pump Sentry's lights indicated that the battery was charging. Strange because when I bought the battery (NAPA Marine Deep Cycle) it was tested in the store and fully charged. It then took about 12 hours for the battery to be fully charged and ready to read. Okay, so maybe the battery needed a little more juice, but it still lasted around 12 hours. After that, the device functioned normally with normal power, ie the sump was connected to a Pump Sentry, which was then connected to a standard outlet. The problem occurred when testing with the power off. I toggled the switch on the sump pump so the Pump Sentry would switch to battery backup. The drain pump worked two cycles and stopped. I could not get the drain pump to work even after the unit was turned on, unplugged from the Pump Sentry, and plugged back in. Pulled the pump and he died. I waited several hours in case of overheating (although there is thermal protection) and nothing. Bought a new $200 drain pump and put everything back together. I thought it might not be a Pump Sentry or maybe a sump pump even though it's only about a year old. Again, the electricity in the house was working fine, but my first power outage had the same results - the sump pump died. I'm not an electrical engineer but I can only assume that something in the clock pump is overloading the drain pump. I called SEC America and they were very polite but couldn't explain the problem to me. They didn't think it was a compatibility or power issue, but they couldn't pinpoint the cause. Again they were very polite but just as confused as I was. Luckily, Revain's customer service helped me get my purchase back. I may have just received a defective unit, but since I'm concerned about my sump pump, I can't waste time and money replacing burnt sump pumps to get this backup system working. You need to switch to a different type of system.
