Review on DuraClear Ultra Matte Varnish by DecoArt Americana, 8 fl.oz by Kyle Gresham

Highly recommended! I use it as a permanent, scratch resistant top coat on painted rocks that I make and sell. While other matte finishes I've tried were still fairly glossy, DuraClear Ultra Matte was successful in reducing and almost eliminating gloss, allowing my projects to be more visible even in direct light. (It also made it easier to photograph my finished pieces!) The surface feels fairly smooth, although it's definitely rougher than Duraclear Gloss. I don't find its smell too strong and when it dries it doesn't smell at all! Colors appear to fade a bit underneath, but not enough to be a problem in my opinion. For best results and to avoid cracking the finish, be sure to apply several very thin coats and the surface to be covered is completely dry first. Wash your brushes right away too, they dry very quickly!
