🎨 General Finishes High Performance Water Based Topcoat, Satin Finish - 1 Quart Review

I bought this flatcoat for my kitchen cabinets that I was planning to repaint. It's not a 'real' apartment as it has a shine to it, but it was exactly what I was looking for. I bought a satin top coat, but it was more of a semi-gloss finish. I wanted something more like eggshell glitter and this "flat" coat did just that!

I don't know why there are so many good reviews maybe I just got a bad batch. But after painting the furniture with chalk paint I tried to seal it with this product and as soon as it started to dry it yellowed and completely ruined my furniture. The only good news is that it turned yellow so quickly that I stopped using it before I was done with all my work. I am very unhappy to have to redo a painting I thought I had just completed. Hobby woodworker who has used various finishes over the years - lacquer, shellac, resins, oils etc. I have never written about any of these as they do what you would expect. However, this product, a water-based GF satin top coat, deserves a few words. Great product. I've always been a fan of GF products but this might be my favorite. I've used a few of their products (read my review for conversion polish) and had great results, except for the resume (pretty sure I got a bad gallon of product). I make a lot of recycled barn furniture and this is by far the best product I have ever used. I've used many finishes but this was a revelation. It spreads quickly and evenly without leaving any artifacts. It can take a while to get used to the short hours, but it spreads so easily that it didn't bother me and actually made me a lot more productive. I apply quickly, almost like a sketch, then touch up a bit and start applying the next layer almost immediately. I found three layers almost perfect. Being water based makes it easy to clean, but I usually just chill my plastic-lined brushes
