UPDATED 2 years later, BELOW: Only used a few days so far. I use it in the car to blow air on my face while in the parking lot while wife attacks the mall. Because I don't respond well to most purchases, I sit in my car and read on my Kindle. This is in Northern California weather. I figured a few speeds would be enough, but the variable speed is *better* and only allows for the amount of fan needed. The huge clamp is solid and the two adjustable ball joints work great. Ball grip tension is adjustable on both balls. In other words, you're very good at specifying it. Very quiet at low speeds. You don't hear all that at altitude when a ridiculous boombox drives by. *Much* quieter than RV face fans. Another nice touch is the *very* small vibration. No, I didn't do any sound or vibration tests of the accelerator, just comparisons. While the electrics and mechanics work my real test will be to see if the wiring holds up over time as it gets disconnected and shoved in the back seat every time Mrs calls and tells me which store to fill up and where to pick them up. anyway so far so good. If it peels off, you'll know right after the manufacturer. No, I never get a toy to test, I just buy stuff. Update: 9-20, I'm glad you liked my review. The fan still works great after many hammer attacks for 2 years or so. We just went through a couple of days of 105-108 degrees when I was baking in the car. No, I will not start the engine while parked to cool down. It has nothing to do with engine wear. It's all plastic and rubber lines on top of the engine, no less under the cover that's boiled, that's a problem. Too much time is spent fixing a faulty appliance or a leaking hose underneath! I've found that extra help is needed in the heat of Msjor. I bought a set of three small spray bottles to clean those prized metal detector treasures with one. Yeah right. In fact, I bought it to hear the women's department complain about Revane's husband delivering another package. yes it worked I found that using one of the small, very thin spray bottles that I spritzed on my face with a fan from time to time made the machine almost survivable. When I showed my wife my great shopping savvy, I got the expected eye roll. I use distilled or bottled drinking water. Tap water contains too much calcium and cakes on my face. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085QD1HKY/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. These are small bottles but any fine atomizer will help a lot. I'm nice to my fan. I just fold up the fan wiring a bit and put the fan and wiring in a small box on the floor of the car behind the passenger seat. Yes, this is a Revain box. So the fan is still running, I take care of the wiring, and the water spray helps on really hot days when you cook for yourself to keep the wife from shopping.
