I was hesitant to order due to reviews complaining about the stickers. I was concerned because the box said "two steps" but luckily the black three step ladder I ordered was inside. The stairs look as expected. There were only 2 medium sized stickers on my stairs. The stickers can detract from the elegant look, but are not very obtrusive. For some, covering the stickers with black tape or tape may be enough instead of peeling them off. I hate stickers on my clothes and I practice removing them a lot. I didn't find them particularly difficult to remove. If you peel off the corner properly, pull very slowly and pay close attention to what you are doing, you can gently remove the stickers (see photo). Unless you are a decal remover, you will likely need to remove any remaining adhesive after the decal is removed. I used Scotty Peeler to clear the starting corner. After the sticker was "completely" removed, I removed the remaining adhesive with Scotch Citrus Sticker and Marker Remover (hard to find? I'd try the Goo Gone Sticker Lifter). Finally, a small amount of olive oil, sanded in places, made the decal spots invisible. The stairs are easy to open and close, but opening them is a little awkward. I think the stiffness will go away with use.
