I took it out of the box and taped it to the phone first. I already had a small metal plate on the outside of the case because my previous mount was magnetic. I was amazed at how strong the magnets are! Scosche magnet mounts are the only ones that have FOUR magnets. The rest only have 3, and that counts. I didn't want my Galaxy S20 falling out of the rearview mirror and breaking when I hit a speed bump or pothole. These magnets keep my S20 in the durable case and prevent it from falling. Remember how impressed I was with the power of these magnets. This will be important later. I then transferred the mount to my car, a 2019 Honda Pilot EX. It's a cool car and it has all the bells and whistles and even most of the whistles! One of the features are 4 small buttons on the bottom of the mirror that control various functions like opening the garage door and so on. When I attached the bracket to the mirror and tightened, the garage door opened. It took a little while, but I was able to position the bracket to fit between the knobs and I was able to tighten and lock the vertical part (back) of the bracket. Then I added the horizontal pieces (top and bottom) and pressed them against the mirror. I placed my phone on incredibly strong magnets and moved a very flexible but strong arm to get my phone exactly where I wanted it. Utter perfection! 5 Stars! I took my phone for a walk. We encounter speed bumps. We hit potholes. We raced around corners and skidded to a stop. We pushed the buttons and rotated it 360 degrees - twice! My phone didn't move. My cell phone didn't bounce. My phone hasn't fallen off ridiculously strong magnets. I checked the mount and it was still snug against the mirror. 6 stars! 10 stars! I pulled into the driveway, grabbed my cell phone, and unhooked it. No, that didn't happen. I grabbed my phone and yanked the bracket off the mirror. The phone was in my hand, the cradle was still on the phone. Ouch! I must be stronger than I thought! I moved the bracket to the mirror, tightened the vertical part, tightened the horizontal pieces and removed the phone and bracket from the mirror again. I controlled the vertical, I controlled the horizontal. I made sure they were as tight as possible. Then I VERY CAREFULLY and WITH TWO HANDS carefully ripped the phone off the magnets that were too strong. The bracket stayed in place, but the horizontal brackets were loose enough that the bracket could be easily removed from the mirror. Since then I've learned to shoot the phone with one hand. It's not fast and it's quite annoying having to work so hard when all I really want to do is jump out of the car. Despite this care, the horizontal brackets had come loose. every time And I had to pull it up again. every time I'll try, fix that with a rubber band/popsicle stick/stealth stick because I LOVE how it holds the phone.
