We actually bought these for our 13 year old daughter who has low muscle tone. She needed more comfortable shoes. She used to complain about pain in her feet every day and since she got these shoes she has taken her class on several hikes and hasn't complained about her feet anymore. They are also easy enough for her to tie. So if a parent has a child with poor fine motor skills, these shoes aren't a bad idea!
