We had a fire. They worked. I was 30 miles from my home and was able to call 911. Firefighters entered the home and removed the smoldering object. Apart from the smoke, the house was saved. This is really the best rating I can give. In a bit more detail: I have 4 of these connected to my Abode Home Security System (simple). As the smoke started the fire alarm went off and the Abode security system went off immediately which is also configured to set off these alarms and send an attention grabbing audio alert and pop up notification to my phone. I actually saw smoke on my security camera and wondered what was going on, and then the smoke detector alerts confirmed what I was seeing. Honestly, what's the use of "stupid" smoke alarms if nobody at home can hear them? You need to connect them to a smart home hub or security system.
