It's okay. My ottoman wasn't terrible but had cat scratches on the back. Now cut the skin, but definitely scratched. It's a very thin liquid. As you can see from my pictures this helped cover up the scratches but I guess if you had deep scratches it really wouldn't help. I only applied one coat, I'll try again tomorrow when it's completely dry, but I've noticed it's filled the skin so I have to buff it as it dries to add shine. I think a shoe polish, thicker, might be a better option. I was struggling to find a dark enough polish so I ordered this one. My ottoman is almost espresso colored
