Perfect fit for 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4L - Rough Idle Fix

Installed for Customer 2005 PT Cruiser 2.4L I4 @ 180,000 miles with check engine light due to rough idle / accidental misfire / poor performance. Another mechanic misdiagnosed a fuel pump failure which is a very expensive and unnecessary repair (noting here in case others get the same misdiagnosis). The original spark plugs were badly worn, with a gap of approx. 0.100 and platinum discs missing! TIP: Replace the ignition wires at the same time as the spark plugs. You will not regret it. I have used these and they work great: uxcell 671-4079 Auto Car Engine Spark Plug Wire 4pc Ignition Wire Set for Chrysler PT Cruiser Sebring Dodge 4 Cylinder 2001-2009 NOTE. This motor is equipped with aluminum heads. DO NOT attempt to remove the spark plug before the engine has completely cooled or you will irreparably damage the heads. Also injecting WD40 into the base of each spark plug and 10 minutes will help remove it. The exchange procedure is simple. Remove six or seven 8mm upper intake manifold mounting bolts. upper intake manifold and hold it out of the way with an elastic band. Remove the old spark plug wire by gently twisting to release tension and then pulling to remove. Spark plug gap is 0.040". Apply a small amount of anti-seize to the threads of the new spark plug. Install the new spark plug and torque to the correct torque. Use a cotton swab to apply a very small amount of dielectric Grease the inside of the boot at each end. (Boot only, not the clamp.) Install the new spark plug wire making sure it snaps onto the spark plug and the other end onto the spool Repeat these steps for each cylinder til you're done Lower the intake manifold back down Place and remove the internal bolts (no new gaskets needed) Tighten the clamp on the air intake to the throttle body Enjoy your new job!
