Review on πŸ”§ Ultrawall 24 inch Black Folding Shelf Brackets: Heavy Duty Adjustable Steel Wall Mounts for Maximum Load 550lb (Pack of 2) by Dean Locke

Stronger than I expected

I needed a garage work surface that could easily get out of the way because we had moved from a triple garage to a 'specialty developer garage' in our seniors apartment. After reviewing several folding tables, I decided to try these wall mounts. I stuck them through the drywall and placed a 2' x 4' work surface on top of the brackets. I added a perforated board and small light fixture at the top, as well as a flat towel and spray stand next to the countertop. The mounts are heavier and stronger than I expected. The equipment supplied was also of very good quality. The screws aren't cheap pop metal that's easy to loosen, but they're pretty solid. I wish the wall mount screws were three inches long instead of two inches. But with 1/2" drywall I still have about 1 1/2" in the wall studs and feel very secure. The brackets keep the countertop very stable and I suspect the weight limits in the description are correct. However, it's probably unwise to treat this as a fully supported wooden workbench and just pound on something heavy. But it's very easy to put the tabletop in the right position and also put it down again when I'm done with the project. It's much sturdier and more durable than some of the (mostly) plastic foldable desktops I've tried. I noticed that some other reviewers had brackets that didn't hold their table tops at the correct 90 degree angle. My countertop is held at a 90 degree angle to the wall. Maybe the manufacturer just had an inferior batch?
