I connected both USB ports to my Asus K55N laptop, WIN 8, 64-bit with (3) USB 3.0 and nothing happened. Well, power appeared and then turned off and that was it. I installed the software from the internal drive and still nothing. It shows up in Device Manager but nowhere else (computer). My USB ports are working fine. Moment. As I type, I decide to wiggle the connections to see if anything happens, and the connection on the back of the drive hasn't come loose. Drive turned on and off. Hm. I mentally crossed my thumbs and squeezed the cord quite hard and heard a loud click. Nice click! It seems that this cable needs a lot of pressure to secure properly. What! The light is on. The light goes out. The door opens and closes. NOW it will appear as an additional drive on your computer! Funny how things work, right? I really hope this helps someone one day because I feel like an idiot writing all this. :) UPDATE: December 7, 2013 The drive still works great and I found I only needed one of the two USB cables to get the drive working. It works just as fast as the drive that comes with the laptop.
