In the past I have attempted to install cabinet hardware using the measure and drill method. Most of the time things don't quite add up. With a new set of expensive cabinets I wanted to avoid this problem. This thing is good for leveling equipment. The comments about the lack of instructions are correct, but a few minutes of playing around with different elements got me where I needed to be. When I set up the jig I also used clamps to hold it securely in place while I drilled the holes. My only real complaint is that the bushing holes are slightly larger than the bit size I intended to use. I wrapped the drill bits in masking tape and healed the six holes that needed to be drilled. If I had to make more holes I would look for a better and more durable technique (jack/jack?).
