Update Last Update - I fixed the "toe" by straightening the offending side of my liner. Now that I've had time to use it, the vise works well. I just hope it lasts as long as my 52-1/2 record. Update - After attaching the plate (see below) I installed the vise and the toe was almost 1/4 inch. Yes, it was about 3/16. "Less than 4 inches. See photos below. Original Post - Poor quality, flimsy, cheap metal. I missed the return window because I was making a workbench for this vise and lingered on the workbench. When I went to fix it today to install,When wiping off the shipping oil I noticed the plate in the picture is bent. The box wasn't damaged so it must have been from the factory.I also have an old plate vise and the same plate is twice the thickness (it will never bend.) Cheap stamped metal is not what should be on this vise! The guides are loose, can move and as you can see in the photos they can fail completely. If you look at the photos look the plate should be straight and even with a triangle but it doesn't follow the line any further than a lock washer If they had put in a better piece of metal it would have e I gave it 4 stars. In an attempt to save no more than five cents, they made a serious mistake. For $144, they/dol women could afford to add a slightly thicker plate. To the manufacturer: If you want to copy a classic, you must copy at least the basic components in order for it to work properly. There's a reason they did everything the way they did. They haven't cut corners on certain things for some reason - and neither should you.
