In addition to the kit 18-105mm VR lens, a portrait fix 50mm f/1.8 lens was also purchased. When weighed against the whale, heaven and earth. The pace of focusing is much accelerated, and most importantly, it is more accurate! It seems as though the lens itself is what captures the subject that I am aiming for. This is, of course, a joke; yet, in order to alter the focus point, I only only slightly divert the "sight," and it immediately adheres to whatever it is I want it to focus on. The fact that the lens is so big is not, in my opinion, a drawback; quite the opposite, in fact. To begin, it is more pleasant to hold in one's hand. Second, the moment of inertia is proportional to the mass; it is higher when the mass is bigger (this is pure physics). As a result, there is less shaking when using the camera. Once more, we are able to thank the fantastic VR. Even at its periphery, the lens maintains an impressive level of sharpness. At the wide end, I have no idea if I took the picture with a fixed 50 or with this 70-300mm zoom lens (of course, taking into account the correction for distance). I'm a little lost due to the fact that the zoom ring is so tight. Yet, when compared to the 18-105, this one is significantly heavier and coarser in texture. Still peculiar (at least initially) clicks on VR. In general, I am extremely satisfied, and I can confidently suggest it to anybody; purchasing it is a decision you will not come to regret!
