I bought this for stirring wort for brewing. Works great but seems to cavitate to boiling point. As I thought about it, I expected it to happen. My decision. I don't worry about recycling when I'm in a boil. It doesn't really make much sense since a boil is usually strong enough to circulate on its own! As for people's concerns about "harmful" chemicals; Spikes can be easily edited to reduce/minimize any abduction that can be leached (Google is your friend when it comes to doing this). In fact, given the surface area in contact with liquids, very little is leached out anyway. As for the chemicals that can be in the plastic. Again, actually after a few "hot test runs" I'm not sure there won't be much leaking after that. and on the whole I think it will hurt you less than the amount of beer you have to drink for it to be a problem!
